Is my child the right age for therapy?
Smart Play Therapy treats children of all ages, from infants to early teenagers. It is recommended that you schedule an evaluation if you are concerned that your child’s speech and language skills are delayed, at ANY age.
Will my speech and language evaluation and/or therapy be covered under my insurance plan?
Smart Play Therapy is a fee for service practice. We do not bill insurance. Upon request, you will be provided with a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance for any available out-of-network benefits. We accept cash, check, or credit (including HSA payments).
Do I need a physician referral?
No – A physician referral is not required to schedule the initial speech and language evaluation and/or therapy. If you plan to submit paperwork for your insurance company for any out-of-network benefits, a physician referral may be required. It is recommended that you discuss your concerns with a physician so we can work together as a team for your child.
How often and how long will my child need speech/language therapy?
Frequency of therapy is determined on a case-by-case basis and dependent upon the child’s needs, availability, and family preference. Children often attend therapy on a weekly basis or a biweekly basis. It is difficult to predict the length of time that your child will need therapy. Progress in therapy is dependent upon the severity of your child’s delay, medical diagnoses, and follow through with home therapy program. This will be discussed in more detail after the initial evaluation.
Does a parent or guardian need to be present for therapy?
Yes – a parent or authorized guardian is required to be present during each therapy visit. Parent/family involvement in therapy and home program is crucial in your child making progress toward therapy goals.
Where does the therapy take place?
All evaluations and therapy appointments will take place at the Smart Play Therapy clinic located at 2266 Venture Drive Maria Stein, OH 45860.
